The Challenge
Delivering comprehensive security architecture for the FIFA World Cup 2022 - the first World Cup held in the Middle East and one of the largest sporting events in history. The programme required protecting 8 state-of-the-art stadiums, dozens of training facilities, fan zones accommodating hundreds of thousands, transportation networks, and accommodation for 1.4 million international visitors across a 29-day tournament.
Our Solution
As Chief Security Advisor to the Cabinet Office of Qatar, Alun Maxwell Thomas QPM led the strategic design and implementation of an unprecedented security framework over a 10-year programme. This encompassed threat assessment and intelligence integration, multi-agency coordination across international security services, crowd management protocols for mass gatherings, counter-terrorism strategies, venue protection systems, transportation security corridors, and comprehensive crisis response frameworks. The programme established new global benchmarks for major event security.
Results Achieved
"The expertise and leadership provided over the ten-year programme was instrumental in delivering a safe and secure FIFA World Cup. The security framework established has set new international standards and created a lasting legacy for Qatar's capability to host major global events."
